What is an upright freezer?
An upright freezer is a tall, freestanding commercial freezer that holds frozen stock at -18C to -22C behind one or more full-height doors..
Can an upright freezer replace a blast freezer?
An upright freezer holds stock that is already frozen. Use a blast freezer for rapid freezing before transferring the batch to frozen storage.
What is an upright freezer also called?
What are the different types of commercial freezers?
Commercial freezers commonly include upright freezers for high-capacity vertical storage, under-counter freezers for convenient frozen storage beneath worktops, lowboy freezers for compact drawer-based storage near cooking stations, and display or reach-in freezers for easy product visibility and access.
What is the difference between the single door and double door Upright Freezer?
The single door model holds 450 litres across 4 shelves in a 686mm wide cabinet. The double door model holds 1,017 litres across 8 shelves in a 1372mm wide cabinet. Both hold the same -18C to -22C temperature range.
What temperature range does the ANKE Upright Freezer hold?
The ANKE Upright Freezer holds -18C to -22C, suitable for frozen food storage, and is rated to operate in 43C ambient heat.
What refrigerant does the Upright Freezer use?
How many shelves does each model include?
Is the Upright Freezer available as a chiller instead?
Yes. The same cabinet platform is available as an Upright Chiller (models UPC1 and UPC2) holding -2C to +10C.
What is the Upright Freezer built from?
What are the most common problems with an upright freezer?
How do I know if my upright freezer is losing its cooling power?
Why does frost or ice build up inside an upright freezer?
Why would an upright freezer suddenly stop cooling?
How often should the condenser be cleaned?
Can the door hinge be changed to the left side?
Does ANKE build custom sizes of the Upright Freezer?
What is the warranty on the ANKE Upright Freezer?
What size commercial freezer does a restaurant kitchen need?
Size it by the frozen stock you hold between deliveries, not by the space you have. The single door upright freezer holds 450 litres across 4 shelves and suits most cafes and small kitchens. The double door holds 1,017 litres across 8 shelves for kitchens that buy frozen stock in bulk. If only a few frozen items are needed at the cook line, keep them in an under counter or lowboy freezer at the station and use the upright for bulk storage.
How much electricity does a commercial upright freezer use?
The single door upright freezer uses about 5.8 kWh per 24 hours and the double door about 12.5 kWh. Per litre, that makes the upright the most efficient way to hold bulk frozen stock: a single door under counter freezer uses slightly more power, about 6.6 kWh, to hold less than a fifth of the volume. Both are rated for kitchens up to 43C ambient. Keep doors closed during service and keep the condenser clean to hold these figures.
