Why This Matters
What Happens When Upright Storage Gets It Wrong
Undersized or wrongly rated storage costs a kitchen in three ways: lost time restocking, faster equipment wear in UAE heat, and higher spoilage risk.
Undersized cabinets
Mean constant restocking trips that slow the whole kitchen.
Wrong ambient rating
Units built for 32C climates strain past 40C, shortening compressor life.
Cheap steel
Corrodes within a year or two, the first thing an inspection flags.
No local support
Imported units mean waiting on parts while a kitchen cannot pause service.
Why ANKE
Why Choose The ANKE Upright Chiller
ANKE has manufactured commercial refrigeration in the UAE since 1997, and builds the Upright Chiller in 304 stainless steel rated for 43C ambient heat, not a milder European standard.

Engineering Insight
Why Ambient Rating Matters More Than the Spec Sheet Suggests
A 43C ambient rating is the outdoor temperature the compressor is engineered to push heat against while still holding -2C to +10C inside. Units built for a lower rating work harder once real UAE summer heat arrives.
Hot gas defrost
Clears frost using the system’s own heat, faster and gentler on stock than an electric element.
Condensate vaporizer
Evaporates condensate using waste heat, useful where there is no floor drain near the unit.

What is an upright chiller?
An upright chiller is a tall, freestanding refrigerator built for commercial kitchens, holding fresh food at -2C to +10C behind one or more full-height doors, unlike a low counter-height unit.
Is a chiller a fridge or a freezer?
A chiller is a fridge. It holds food above freezing, typically -2C to +10C, for daily fresh storage. A freezer holds food well below freezing, at -18C to -22C, for long-term frozen storage.
What is an upright freezer also called?
An upright freezer is sometimes called a reach-in freezer, since staff reach directly into a full-height cabinet rather than bending into a chest or drawer unit.
What are the different types of commercial chillers?
Commercial chillers commonly come as upright (tall, floor-standing), under counter (worktop height), low boy (drawer-based, lower than under counter) and display or reach-in units with glass doors.
What is the difference between the single door and double door Upright Chiller?
The single door UPC1 holds 450 litres across 4 shelves in a 686mm wide cabinet. The double door UPC2 holds 1017 litres across 8 shelves in a 1372mm wide cabinet. Both hold the same -2C to +10C temperature range.
What temperature range does the ANKE Upright Chiller hold?
The ANKE Upright Chiller holds -2C to +10C, suitable for fresh food storage, and is rated to operate in 43C ambient heat.
What refrigerant does the Upright Chiller use?
The Upright Chiller runs on R290, a hydrocarbon refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential of 3.
How many shelves does each model include?
The single door UPC1 includes 4 shelves. The double door UPC2 includes 8 shelves. Both use GN 2/1 shelving on anti-tilt slides, with a maximum of 10 shelf positions at 100mm spacing.
Is the Upright Chiller available with a freezer instead?
Yes. The same cabinet platform is available as an Upright Freezer (models UPF1 and UPF2) holding -18C to -22C.
What is the Upright Chiller built from?
The cabinet is built in 304 grade stainless steel, interior and exterior, for hygiene and corrosion resistance.
What are the most common problems with an upright chiller?
The most common issues are poor cooling from a dusty condenser, frost or ice buildup blocking airflow, and frequent on-off cycling caused by restricted ventilation. Most of these come down to condenser maintenance rather than the unit itself.
How do I know if my upright chiller is losing its cooling power?
Warning signs include the cabinet running warmer than usual, the compressor running constantly instead of cycling normally, and condensation building up inside the cabinet. Check the condenser coils for dust first, since restricted airflow is the most common cause.
Why does frost or ice build up inside an upright chiller?
Frost usually points to a door seal that isn’t closing fully or a door left open too often, letting in warm, moist air. ANKE Upright Chillers use hot gas defrost, which clears any frost using the system’s own heat rather than a separate electric element.
Why would an upright chiller suddenly stop cooling?
Check the power supply and thermostat setting first, since these cause most sudden stoppages. If those are fine, a blocked condenser or poor ventilation around the unit is the next most likely cause.
How often should the condenser be cleaned?
A commercial kitchen environment builds up grease and dust quickly, so the condenser should be checked and cleaned every 1 to 3 months to keep airflow and cooling performance consistent.
Can the door hinge be changed to the left side?
Yes. A left hand door hinge is available as an option on both the single door and double door Upright Chiller.
Does ANKE build custom sizes of the Upright Chiller?
Yes. As a manufacturer, ANKE can build custom refrigeration to a specific size or layout on request, in addition to the standard UPC1 and UPC2 models.
What is the warranty on the ANKE Upright Chiller?
Warranty terms are confirmed at the time of quotation. Contact the ANKE team for current warranty details.
How do I order an ANKE Upright Chiller?
