Lowboy Chiller
ANKE’s Lowboy Chiller holds +2C to +8C in GN 1/1 drawers at only 650mm high, low enough for counter top cooking equipment to sit above it. Three widths: 1200mm (LB-DR2, 2 drawers), 1420mm (LB-DR2+2, 4 drawers), or 1900mm (LB-DR2+2+2, 6 drawers), in 304 grade stainless steel inside and out, with ventilated forced air refrigeration.

ANKE builds the Lowboy Chiller in three widths on one platform: 1200mm, 1420mm, or 1900mm. All three are 700mm deep and 650mm high, and all three hold +2C to +8C. Every drawer takes 2 x GN 1/1 containers, so the drawer count rises with the width.
Legs are standard on all three widths. Castor wheels are available as an option.

Why This Matters
What Happens When A Drawer Base Is Chosen Like An Ordinary Fridge
A lowboy is defined by its height. At 650mm it sits well below a standard 850mm counter, which is the entire point of the product. Four things go wrong when that height, and what goes above it, are not thought through.
Wrong working height
Put counter top equipment on an 850mm cabinet and the cooking surface ends up too high to work at comfortably or safely for a whole service.
No way to service it
Once equipment sits on top, the unit can never be pulled out of the line. If the refrigeration system cannot come out from the front, servicing means moving everything above it first.
Heat coming from above
A drawer base at a grill or fryer station takes radiant heat downward from the equipment on top of it, on top of whatever the room ambient already is.
Uneven temperature in shallow drawers
A shallow drawer cabinet without proper air movement holds the front and the back of a drawer at noticeably different temperatures.
Why ANKE
Why Choose The ANKE Lowboy Chiller
ANKE has manufactured commercial refrigeration in the UAE since 1997. The Lowboy Chiller is built around the two things that actually matter on a drawer base: getting the height right, and staying serviceable once something heavy is sitting on top of it.

Engineering Insight
Why A Lowboy Is 650mm And Not 850mm
850mm is standard counter height, the height a person works at. A lowboy is deliberately 200mm shorter than that, and the missing 200mm is not wasted space. It is the allowance for whatever sits on top. Put a counter top griddle, fryer, or char grill on a 650mm base and the cooking surface lands back at roughly working height. Put the same equipment on an 850mm cabinet and it ends up too high to work at safely. The height is not a limitation of the product. The height is the product.
Ventilated forced air refrigeration
Air is moved through the cabinet rather than left to settle, which is what delivers the minimal temperature fluctuation the datasheet describes, front to back of a shallow drawer.
Front removable compressor and condenser
The refrigeration system comes out from the front, so the unit stays serviceable even when it can never be moved out of the line.
2 x GN 1/1 per drawer
Standard gastronorm containers drop straight in, so prepped product moves from the prep bench to the drawer base without being decanted.
Dixell thermostat
A named, serviceable control rather than an unbranded board, so replacement parts can be sourced through the life of the unit.
How To Order
From Enquiry To Installed Drawer Base
Five steps from enquiry to an installed unit. Two things decide the specification: the run length available on your cook line, and what equipment is going to sit on top. Tell us both and we will confirm the model and check the top arrangement with you.

What is a lowboy chiller?
A lowboy chiller, also written low boy and sometimes called a refrigerated drawer base or chef base, is a commercial refrigerator built low, at 650mm high, with GN 1/1 drawers instead of doors. It sits on the cook line so cold product is at the station rather than across the kitchen.
Why is it only 650mm high?
Because something usually goes on top of it. Standard counter height is 850mm. A lowboy is built 200mm shorter so that counter top cooking equipment placed above it brings the cooking surface back to roughly working height.
What is the difference between a lowboy chiller and an under counter chiller?
Height and access. An under counter chiller is 850mm high with doors and a worktop you can use. A lowboy is 650mm high with GN drawers, designed to sit beneath equipment rather than to be worked on directly.
What does "fits 2 x GN 1/1 per drawer" mean?
GN 1/1 is the full size gastronorm container used across commercial kitchens. Each drawer takes two of them, so prepped product can be moved straight from the prep bench into the drawer base without being transferred into different containers.
What is the difference between LB-DR2, LB-DR2+2 and LB-DR2+2+2?
They are the same cabinet in three widths. LB-DR2 is 1200mm wide with 155 litres. LB-DR2+2 is 1420mm with 195 litres. LB-DR2+2+2 is 1900mm with 305 litres. All three are 700mm deep and 650mm high. The model code describes the drawer banks: 2, then 2 + 2, then 2 + 2 + 2.
What temperature range does the ANKE Lowboy Chiller hold?
It holds +2C to +8C, and is rated to operate in 43C ambient.
What does ventilated refrigeration mean?
Ventilated means forced air: a fan moves cold air through the cabinet instead of letting it settle by gravity. In a shallow drawer unit that is what keeps the front and the back of a drawer at a similar temperature, which is why the datasheet lists minimal fluctuation in the inner cabinet as a key feature.
How much power does it draw?
LB-DR2 draws 320 W, LB-DR2+2 draws 310 W, and LB-DR2+2+2 draws 380 W.
Can cooking equipment sit on top of it?
Lowboy units are designed to sit beneath counter top equipment, but the weight and footprint of the specific equipment you plan to use should be checked before ordering. Contact the ANKE team with the equipment details and they will confirm the arrangement for your installation.
Is it available as a freezer instead?
Yes. The same platform is available as a Lowboy Freezer (models LB-FR-DR2, LB-FR-DR2+2 and LB-FR-DR2+2+2) holding -18C to -22C.
How is a lowboy serviced when equipment is sitting on top of it?
That is exactly what the front removable compressor and condenser are for. The refrigeration system comes out from the front of the unit, so routine service and cleaning do not require moving the equipment above or pulling the base out of the line.
How often should the condenser be cleaned?
Every 1 to 3 months. A drawer base on a cook line sits directly under equipment that throws off grease and heat, so the condenser loads up faster than on a unit in a prep area.
The drawers are not holding an even temperature. What should I check?
Check that the drawers are closing and sealing fully, then check the condenser for grease, then check that GN containers are not stacked above the drawer line where they block airflow. Ventilated refrigeration only works if air can actually move.
Can the drawer runners be cleaned or replaced?
Drawers should be emptied and the runners wiped down as part of routine cleaning. For replacement parts, contact the ANKE team.
Which model should I choose?
Measure the run available on your cook line first: 1200mm, 1420mm, or 1900mm. Then check the capacity you need against 155, 195, and 305 litres. If equipment is going on top, share those dimensions too so the arrangement can be checked.
Does it come on wheels?
Legs are standard. Castor wheels are available as an option, though on a unit with equipment mounted above, fixed legs are usually the right choice.
What is the warranty on the ANKE Lowboy Chiller?
Warranty terms are confirmed at the time of quotation. Contact the ANKE team for current warranty details.
How do I order?
